Please note!5
Amazon merged the two models into one page and fixed most of their info, but they have the battery life listed as nine hours in one place and six hours in another; the six hour figure is correct (thanks, Philip!).

Also, the cheaper model (T115D-S1120) has a single core 1.6 GHz processor, not a dual core 1.5 GHz processor. This is currently still incorrect on one part of the page.

I love this thing.5
I have a 16 inch Toshiba dual core/4gb ram I purchased a year ago and loved it, but I wanted something mobile with a longer battery life. I love Toshiba quality and decided they can have my business again. I was looking around for a netbook but then this came out. I went with the dual core just in case I needed to photoshop and watch movies on it later. I’ve looked at 10.1 inch screens, and they were just so tiny and have to scroll a lot when when reading online. 11.6 inch screen is perfect, I don’t notice the screen size being a problem. Screen is beautiful, watching HD shows and movies look fine and play fine.

I have had this for about week and have done mostly web browsing and haven’t ran it through the ringer with memory hog programs life photoshop yet but it feels just as fast as my 16 inch dual core with 4 gb of ram. I usually get over 4.5 hours battery life on bright settings but I put it on eco mode which dims the backlight and I get 5+ hours.

I watch youtube videos with ease but speakers are not the best which doesn’t matter since I use headphones on it. Hulu, Facebook, you name it all work just as fast as my laptop. Itunes works great.

One thing was common in reading netbook reviews was that you can’t expect it to replace your regular laptop or desktop. I honestly think this product can, especially if your an average user who watches youtube, listen to music, web browse. I didn’t see the need to upgrade Ram yet and probably won’t so I don’t sacrifice more battery life.

One complaint is that is does get warm when I’m using it constantly but not like it is burning my leg warm. I’m used to the track pad but prefer using a wireless mouse. I picked up another logitech wireless mouse which works perfectly. If your thinking of getting a netbook, or just a laptop that has a long battery life but don’t want to sacrifice power, this is it.

First time netbook shopping? Buy this one!5
I have been skeptical about purchasing a netbook instead of a traditional laptop for a computer for my wife to use around the home. Man am I glad I plucked down the extra $100.00 over other good netbooks. This thing is a powerhouse! About the only difference between this netbook and 2 year old laptop technology is the missing optical drive, on the other hand unlike many netbooks it comes loaded with Windows 7 premium instead of starter (A major problem in other netbooks). Another dynamite plus in this netbook is the included HDMI port to hook up your computer directly to a HDTV and watch Hulu, amazon on demand, netflix, or other streaming broadcasts. The laptop is as fast as any other middle of the line laptop, which makes it exceptionally fast for a netbook.

The keyboard did take me about 20 minutes to get used to, and while some review sites give the buttons a big thumbs down, they are okay after using them for a while. If I am using this netbook on a desk I am likely to hook up a wireless mouse to it.

The included battery lasted 5 1/2 hours using it for the Internet and word processing.

When I ran itunes, MS Word, Firefox, and a few other smaller programs the computer did not have any trouble with lag time. Boot time is a bit slower than I would like, but no complaints given it is a netbook. Like I said, I feel like it performs as well as any new laptop from a few years ago.

The weight is perfect to carry around the house, which my wife needs during the day with a newborn. It is very thin and very light.

I did not have any difficulty with scrolling while looking at websites – I have yet to run into one that has to be scrolled horizontally.

If you are looking for a netbook, but are put off by tiny keyboards, slow response times, slightly too small screens, and can spend a little extra, this is my favorite netbook out of the many I spent time researching and playing with at Best Buy and Walmart.

How To Watch Classic Cartoon Favorites, Vol. 4 – Starring Chip ‘n Dale Movie On iPod, iPad, Xbox 360, wii, or Cel Phone

Great DVD, But Dissapointing4
I got this wonderful DVD today for my siblings and I (mainly me lol) to enjoy. I’ve always wanted to see these shorts again since you can’t see them on tv (the Current Disney Channel sucks). All of the shorts are very funny, but I was dissapointed by one thing: none of the shorts were resorted in any way, it looks as if they wentr through a quick cleanup and that’s it. I was expecting the picture quality on this to match that of the Goofy DVD (those were restored from the previous Treasures release), but sadly they do not. The picture is oversaturated and a bit too dark. It’s great to finally have these shorts on DVD and I would recomend them to anyone who wants to see them again or who has small kids. But it would be nice if we got the perfect picture like with the Treasures DVD’s. Buy and enjoy.

Very good, but should have twice as many cartoons.4
This would have been a five star release if not for:
1) it is too short and
2) It has only two of their three solo cartoons. “LONE CHIPMUNKS” is missing and SHOULD have been included. It is unlikely that Chip & Dale will get their own Disney Treasures DVD release with only three cartoons.

Unlike most of the Cartoon Favorites series DVDs, this installment mostly features cartoons not yet available on the Disney Treasures series. The descriptions are already included above, so I will give the duplication run down here:

CHIP AND DALE (1947)- NEW TO DVD but expected to be on the Disney Treasures: Chronological Donald volume 3 to be released this Dec. 11 2007.

TREE FOR BREAKFAST (1948) – NEW TO DVD but expected to be on the Disney Treasures: Chronological Donald volume 3 to be released this Dec. 11 2007.

OUT ON A LIMB (1950) – NEW TO DVD but expected to be on the Disney Treasures: Chronological Donald volume 3 to be released this Dec. 11 2007.

FOOD FOR FEUDIN’ (1950) – Only cartoon already released on “Disney Treasures: Complete Pluto volume 2″.

OUT OF SCALE (1951) – NEW TO DVD, not yet announced for any Donald Duck release.

CHICKEN IN THE ROUGH (1951) – NEW TO DVD – solo Chip & Dale cartoon.

TWO CHIPS AND A MISS (1952) – NEW TO DVD – solo Chip & Dale cartoon.

WORKING FOR PEANUTS (1953) – NEW TO DVD, not yet announced for any Donald Duck release.

DRAGON AROUND (1954) – NEW TO DVD, not yet announced for any Donald Duck release.

Bottom line: This is a MUST GET DVD!

IT’S ABOUT DARN TIME!!!5
It’s about time an affordable series of Disney cartoons was released. I know they’ve had some truly stellar gift sets, box sets, metallic box sets, etc, and those are GREAT. But not everyone can afford an investment of that sort. When my 17 year old son was about 4, we used to enjoy the heck out of Chip `n’ Dale cartoons. Disney had a couple of video tapes dedicated to them, each with somewhere around 5 cartoons. They were less than $10 and believe me, we nearly wore those suckers out. Since the advent of DVD, we haven’t had such an affordable little collection.

Now comes this new series, and I immediately had to snatch up the Chip `n’ Dale collection. We get just under an hour of entertainment…a cross section of Chip `n’ Dale’s history. Although I don’t have young kids anymore, the whole family enjoyed a little trip down memory lane with these undeniably funny characters. All the episodes where the two chipmunks torment poor Donald Duck are just hilarious.

I highly recommend this affordable romp!

Customer Reviews:

Stephen King’s “Desperation” adapted for television…TAK!4
Stephen King’s novel “Desperation” comes to life on the big screen with an all star cast that is led by Tom Skerritt. The dark desert saga is told very close within the novel itself and unlike other King TV adaptations, it seem to do a good job with portraying the mood and landscape that I discovered when reading the story a few years ago.

Desperation follows the tale of a variety of people who are traveling on a lonely open road through the deserts of Nevada. Slowly one by one, they are pulled over by a cop, and ultimately taken in to the jail that is a one stoplight town called “Desperation”. As each person has a different experience with the highway patrolman, they all realize the same thing: This guy is more than just a dirty cop who plants evidence to haul them in. He’s strange. Aside from him enormous figure, his skin looks like it is almost decaying, and in conversation he continually seems to suddenly include the word “TAK” in his sentences.

By the time a group of people are gathered at the jail, they have already experienced death and dismay. Who is this Collie Entragian, and why has he arrested them and brought them here? What is happening to his body? Why does he keep saying “TAK”? It is soon discovered, thanks to a little boy with a connection with god, that Collie Entragian is definitely more than meets the eye, and that the strange happenings in the China Pit mine nearby have a lot more to do with it than they realize. King’s story explores themes of survival while at the same time using a simple plot of good vs. evil to lay out the foundation for the story. Mick Garris directs and despite accused botchings of past film adaptations from novels, doesn’t do a bad job here. The key for the success of Desperation is that the viewer feel like Ron Perlman (playing Collie Entragian, the large, strange cop) is believable as one of the more poignant figures of the story. I think Garris did a good job here in showing that Collie was not only simply a large individual but somewhat of a jerk AND a smart alec when it came to the opening scenes of the movie.

Tom Skerritt is excellent as Johnny Marinville, a writer who is traveling cross country on a Harley Davidson when he is suddenly stopped by Entragian. Marinville gave up on god long ago, and is not buying the kid’s (Shane Haboucha as David Carver) visions he receives at the jail when talking to his dead sister. Marinville soon realizes that he in fact experienced TAK back in the Vietnam War. TAK is, for lack of a better description, an entity of evil that was released during a mine cave in the early days of Desperations western development. Now it’s up to this group of people to fulfill the wishes of a higher power and take on TAK, who by now is realized as a hideous “body snatcher” that commands the animals, reptiles, and insects of the desert at its whim.

The films does and excellent job in the cinematic landscape of Desperation. The old movie theater and jail within desperation were just as I had pretty much envisioned them when reading the novel. TAK is conveyed with all the power and darkness it can be, while the humanity and perseverance that lies within a group of strangers being thrust into a bad situation is conveyed well. The scenes of the wolves, dogs, spiders, snakes and other animals were also done well as it added to the impact of TAK’s powers as well as the reminder of the isolated desert locale. The dialogue is changed somewhat to give it a whisk of modern day culture, which mostly comes from Marinville making references to everything from Adam Sandler to Ann Coulter. The music, filming and acting I feel save this from being a possible disaster. Compared to past botchings of King’s novels when they come to the screen, Desperation works.

Desperation also stars Annabeth Gish and Steven Weber. Due to the film originally going to be a mini-series, it lasts 3 hours in its entirety.

Stephen King is awesome! Tak a Lak5
I read the book before I Purchased the Movie, which is always better, but the movie folows the book very closely from beginning to end. 2 people driving in a desert stopped by a demented cop, who plants drugs on them. They are taken to a jailhouse where others that were abducted are kept, and the story builds from there. Don’t want to give away to much, but if you are an avid Stephen king fan, you will not be disapointed.

Desperation Review5
I read the book first and was a little disappointed to see they’d left so much that was on the pages out of the movie, but it was still a good horror flick in the King line up. Since I collect both his books and movies, this one certainly won’t be left out. When characters crossing the desert find themselves face to face with a crazed cop, there’s no hope of escape…or is there? The plot thickens as they discover it’s not just a matter of an officer gone mad, but dealings with ancient supernatural spirits/Gods. A young boy may be their only salvation, if they choose to trust his visions.

I would’ve liked to have seen a slightly longer movie with more of the book, and especially a vital character that was left out, added in. However, I don’t believe King movie fans will be disappointed.

Chrissy K. McVay – Author

Amazon.com
Director Mick Garris (Sleepwalkers), also recruited by Stephen King to remake The Shining, knows how to capture King’s horror aesthetic on film. Desperation, based on a more recent King novel, is a pastiche of earlier King novelties, such as the psycho in uniform, this time Sheriff Collie Entragian (Ron Perlman), and dogs summoned by the devil, this time by TAK, an ancient Chinese demon. Desperation, Nevada has a collapsed mine full of Chinese immigrant ghosts, whose spirits are trapped with TAK until they’re accidentally unleashed. The TAK-possessed local sheriff is killing everyone, save a few travelers who stumble through on road trips. In the opening scene, Mary (Annabeth Gish) and her beau are pulled over by Sheriff Entragian, framed by his placing of marijuana in their trunk, then read their rights with a Satanic “I will kill you” thrown in. Later, Steve (Steven Weber), Cynthia (Kelly Overton), and Vietnam vet John Marinville (Tom Skerrit), ride into town, and they too encounter the evil policeman’s wrath. They all meet a brave, imprisoned boy, David (Shane Haboucha), with whom they team up to end the mayhem. Desperation uses blue and green lighting to embrace the funhouse look, and camera shots highlighting the Sheriff’s deranged face make the film occasionally spooky. But the rehashed plot detracts from the fear-factor, leaving one to pine for earlier King story adaptations, like Misery, or Cujo.–Trinie Dalton

Excellent beginner ukulele instruction with good DVD menu design5
I adore Teresa Bright’s music and was so happy to find this video as I am just learning to play the ukulele. The instruction is very clear although I was disappointed that the DVD did not include a chord sheet and music sheets of the 3 songs you learn to play (and sing along with her).

The DVD includes a very easy to use menu system including:
Introduction:
Includes tuning and strumming instruction and practice.
The C chord series:
Teaches you C chord series, practice the series together, and play “Ho’olauna Aloha”
The F chord series:
Teaches you F chord series, practice the series together, and play “Healoha no Honolulu”
The G chord series:
Teaches you G chord series, practice the series together, and play “Lehua Makanoe
Review chords:
A quick, easy way to view all the chords used throughout the instructions

I like it that she does a tuning check before beginning the song to make sure it sounds good as you play along with her while she sings. Each item in the menu takes you to a secondary menu where you can individually pick out any of the items (learning chords, practice chords, tuning check, and playing the song).

My all time favorite song of Teresa Bright’s is “Nani Kaua’i” on the Makaha Sons & Friends “Na Pua O Hawaii” album. I was really hoping to learn that song on this DVD and will look for a music sheet as this is a very beautiful Hawaiian song.

Also, I highly recommend “Jiminy Kokopo’s Ukulele Sing and Strum Fun Book” for all age groups that are starting out with the Ukulele. I will have a review on the book in the very near future.

Mahalo.

Star Trek Enterprise – The Complete Third Season Description:

How To Watch Star Trek Enterprise – The Complete Third Season Movie On iPod, iPad, Xbox 360, wii, or Any Cel Phone Free

Amazon.com
Described by series cocreator Brannon Braga as “a single episode that lasts 24 hours,” the third season of Star Trek: Enterprise is arguably the best in the show’s four-season run. With the epic “Xindi saga” as the season’s primary story arc, the series found its tonal focus in the unpredictable space of the Delphic Expanse, where alien encounters and matter-warping spatial anomalies forced Capt. Archer (Scott Bakula) to make extreme decisions that tested his ethical boundaries. Realizing the need for a fresh viewpoint, Braga and cocreator Rick Berman hired Manny Coto, a TV veteran who conceived or wrote several of the season’s finest episodes (not forgetting Mike Sussman and other members of the series’ first-rate writing staff). Coto’s involvement was instrumental in shaping the Xindi saga, which began (with season 2’s cliffhanger) when Earth was attacked by a Xindi probe–a massive weapon which Archer must now destroy. This vital mission dominates season 3, deriving its potent drama from an impressive variety of characters and subplots focused on the five-species Xindi council, which finds its voice of reason in Primate member Degra (season regular Randy Oglesby) and rancor in the Reptilian Commander (Scott MacDonald), pivotal characters whose fates will be tragically intertwined.

Despite lower ratings and budgetary cutbacks (as evident in several ship-bound episodes with minimal casting), season 3 was equally strong as a showcase for the Enterprise regulars, with plenty of fan speculation rising from the sexy and soothing Vulcan “neuro-pressure” sessions between the insomniac Tucker (Connor Trinneer, better than ever) and T’Pol, whose hidden addiction to a toxic compound allows Jolene Blalock to mine the volatile depths of her character (who now sports a more appealing hairstyle and wardrobe). Meanwhile, security chief Reed (Dominick Keating) engages in heated competition with Major Hayes (reliable guest Steven Culp, from the first season of Desperate Housewives), the leader of NX-01’s Military Assault Command Operation (or MACO), which Reed views with territorial suspicion. And while Enterprise still fumbled to develop the characters of Hoshi (Linda Park) and Travis (Anthony Montgomery), John Billingsley continued to bring clutch-player excellence to his role as Dr. Phlox in several highlight episodes including “Doctor’s Orders” and “Similitude,” the latter featuring equally strong work by Trinneer in an ethically complex (and fan-favorite) examination of the cloning–a typical example of Star Trek at its best.

The alternate timeline of “Twilight” also honors the classic Trek tradition, while “Harbinger” reveals the existence of the trans-dimensional Sphere Builders, whose moon-sized creations affect Enterprise throughout its season-long mission. Finally, the crucial appearances of blue-skinned Andorian Shran (Jeffrey Combs) bring both suspense and comic relief to the season’s grim proceedings, adding depth and tentative alliance to Enterprise’s pre-Federation politics–a crucial element that assumes greater importance with the jaw-dropping cliffhanger of “Zero Hour” and the surprises in store for season 4, which will bring Enterprise ever closer to the original Star Trek timeline.

DVD features
Gathered on disc 7, the season 3 bonus features for Enterprise are consistent with features on seasons 1 and 2: Identical in presentation but different in content. The “Xindi Saga” featurette summarizes the creative and practical decisions that resulted in the season-long story arc; “Enterprise Profile” acknowledges the popularity of “Trip” Tucker and Connor Trinneer’s successful effort to transcend the character’s “hayseed” image; and “A Day in the Life of a Director” finds Roxann Dawson (aka B’Elanna Torres from Voyager) well in control as she helms the episode “Exile.” As with previous DVD sets, three more “NX-01″ files are hidden as “Easter eggs” on the Special Features menus, and they include further appreciations of the Enterprise writers, the work of costume designer Robert Blackman, and John Billingsley’s hilarious anecdote about Phlox’s prodigious sexual endowment(s). The outtakes are amusing but all too brief, perhaps owing to the higher stakes (and lower ratings) of a dramatically serious season. –Jeff Shannon

Customer Reviews:

Very good sound, Great features, sub-optimal remote.4
I’d give it 4.5 stars if I could.

I’ve had this for about four weeks and only now I am beginning to finish the setup. It sounds very good, for both music and movies. Here are the pluses:

1. It has a audio calibration system that equalises the response to match your listening environment. This one has a 6-position Audyssey MultEQ system (the capability to measure more than one position is important) It seems to do a fine job, although it said my center speaker was inverted in phase when it was in fact correctly wired. It computed the speaker distances precisely and The EQ result looks (they show you graphs) and sounds correct. The setup takes a good 20-25 minutes and you are supposed to do it each time you move furniture. Thats a bit of a drag.

2. It has audio over HDMI support (from the PS3 for e.g.) and supports deep color. It cannot do DTS-HD or Dolby TrueHD, but it can take a 7.1 uncompressed PCM input, which is all you need (i think) because the blu-ray spec requires PCM while DTS-HD and TrueHD are optional. I am not using any of these features yet (so this point is from theory not experiment), but its good to have these for future blu-ray support.

3. It does not get very hot at my listening levels (-12 to -24 db). So I was able to cram it into my existing cabinet (albeit with a little carpentry, since it is over a foot deep)

4. Standby power consumption is under 2 watts. While playing music it consumes about 60 watts at my listening levels.

Like I said, it works well for me and I plan to keep it. But its not perfect:

The Downsides:
1. The remote is terrible, and the user interface is not so good. I liked the remote in pictures – it has big buttons and less clutter than other receiver remotes, but this one is unique. It has buttons on the back (with a cover), That would be alright if you only put those buttons there that you dont need often. However I find that some everyday buttons are in the back – for e.g. the button that changes Sound Modes (DTS/Dolby/ROck/Jazz etc. is in the back) Not well thought out. The manual way to save each FM station requires you to press a button on the back and then two buttons on the front to save one preset. Go figure!

I suspect that all high/mid end receivers have so many features that it will be tough to find one with a good interface, unless you get a all-in-one system like a Bose Lifestyle or 3-2-1.

2. The manual is not fun reading – and some things are not explained. I had to call Denon once to figure out something. (it took two calls and a 5 minute hold the second time, and then I got to a somewhat bored sounding technician. But he seemed knowledgeable.)

3. When I connected the subwoofer line level output to my Bose 701s LFE input (powered subwoofer) I got an audible hum (probably at 60 Hz). I had to buy a ground loop isolator from Radioshack ($12) that removed it.

Overall, a good receiver. In an ideal world, you would try out five brands and keep the one that sounds best to you. The only store where I could compare two brands in A/B fashion was Tweeter, where they had Pioneers and Yamahas set up. I liked the Pioneer Elites better but I think it was because the Yamaha’s were setup sub-optimally. Circuit City let me hear a Denon but without the EQ. All in all, I feel that the speakers make a bigger difference than the receiver. I hope some of this helps you in case you are agonizing over the choices. HDMI Sound Processing & GREAT SOUND5
What can I say, this receiver does everything I ask of it. I have a PS3 and a HD DVD hooked up to it, both are sending the new High Definition Surround Sound Formats ie. Dolby True HD and DTS Master Audio, via HDMI, and everything sounds fantastic.

It only has 2 HDMI ins, but its all I need. It has an automated calibration microphone so set up was a breeze.

Top notch build quality and the thing runs cool.

My only knit picks would be the remote, could be better, and the fact that it only sends the on screen display through component, not over HDMI, so it requires a connection to your TV that you really shouldn’t need.

Best receiver ever!4
Denon AVR788 Dolby Digital Surround Receiver

This receiver has excellent sound quality for both digital multichannel and digital 2 channel audio sources. For those that think this receiver is harder to set up than other receivers with Audyssey, it’s not. All receivers with Audyssey have an identical set up procedure. First, you run the auto setup using the supplied mic along with a tripod (very important). Second, you set the subwoofer crossover to 120hz. Third, you raise the crossover for each individual speaker (usually to 80hz) if it was incorrectly detected as either large or small with a 40hz crossover.
